The Power of Third Party Validation
We live in an ever changing world. The world today no longer wants to hear you talk about you or your business. This is a bold and strong statement, but it is nonetheless as true as it gets. So, the million dollar question is if they do not want to hear about you as an individual or your business, how in the world will you sell your products and services to the masses? You have to pitch your brand and your business to get sales, right? While you do need to do that effectively, you need to do it in such a way that prospective customers feel that it is their idea to buy your products or services, rather than your idea to sell to them. In short, the key to online success is to educate people as to why they cannot live without your products or services, and then use those people, other people, and portals to communicate on your behalf.
Let me run you through a scenario of the power of third party validation. Most likely you and I are very similar. We are creatures of habit in some way. For example, you most likely take the same way home from work every day. Say that you are driving home and you see that a new restaurant has opened on your path. You might think to yourself, “We need to try that place out,” but day after day you pass by without ever stopping. Then one day at your BBQ with family and friends, your aunt tells you that she ate at that new restaurant and it was great! The next day you find yourself gathering family or friends and heading to that restaurant for dinner. Passing by, mailers, and no other medium worked nearly as well as that endorsement from your aunt. This is just one example of the power our community has on us.
